The oil and gas separator is part of the exhaust circulation system. It is a separate line from the sump to the engine inlet. Its function is to decompose the oil vapor in the oil sump and the water vapor escaping from the combustion chamber. The separated oil film flows to the oil sump along the wall of the pipe, and the filtered steam enters the engine for re-combustion. Oil and gas separator is usually installed in the engine crankcase breathing hole or exhaust pipe parts, is to separate the crankcase exhaust gas engine oil, reduce the oil from the crankcase breathing hole to the engine.
 
The working principle of the oil and gas separator: after the oil and gas mixture enters the separator through the oil inlet pipe, it is sprayed on the oil baffle cap (the bulk oil cap), and the diffused oil slides down the wall of the pipe to the lower part of the separator by gravity, and then is discharged through the exhaust pipe. At the same time, the gas rises due to the small density, and changes the flow direction upward through the concentration of the separation umbrella. The small oil droplets in the gas are adhered to the umbrella wall, and then collect and attach to the wall. After deoiling, the gas enters the pipeline through the outlet pipe at the top of the separator for gas measurement.
 
The common fault of the oil and gas separator is blockage, which needs to be replaced. When replacing, it is necessary to pay attention to the connection method of each joint of the oil and gas separator. The direction of the joint is as follows: Arrow marks from the fuel pump; R marked access to fuel tank (return pipe). In order to avoid the car in a high temperature environment driving, due to gas resistance and heat seepage and failure. Oil and gas separators are commonly used in new cars.
